Explanation:

プワゾンという香水は、香りがきつくて、むせかえるようです。そんな香水をつけた妖艶な女性とふたりきりになって、微妙な雰囲気になったらどうしようと心配して作った句です。

The Poison perfume gives a suffocating smell. What if I were left alone with a voluptuous woman who uses the Poison perfume?

一种叫Poison的香水，香味浓得人头发昏。万一我和一位用这种香水的妖艳女性共处一室可怎么办呀？

纽约夏日西，远眺伤怀悲恋人，寒铁外楼梯

Explanation:

夏のニューヨーク。ブルックリン地区のほとんどの建物には、外階段が付いている。ウエストサイド物語で、マリアとトニーがTonightを歌ったのがこの外階段。ただの金属製の階段。悲恋の主人公を思い浮かべて、暫く眺めていました。

Summar, in Brooklin, New York, I saw external staircases attached to most of the buildings. In the <Westside Story>, Maria and Tony sang <Tonight> at this kind of metal external staircase. Thinking of the characters in the tragic love, I gazed far for a while.

某个夏日，我在纽约布鲁克林区看到了很多挂在房屋外面的外楼梯。在《西部故事》里，玛利亚和托尼就是在这种金属外楼梯上唱着《Tonight》。想到这悲剧的主角们，我不禁望向远方。

桃の花

桃の花空まで染めて紅きかな

Praised is the flower of peach,

It’s color is so rich,

That the sky cannot breach. 

春花争妍隆，色穿屏风染青天，言我桃最红

Explanation:

紅梅の花、桜の花、そして桃の花が、日本の春を明るくする赤い花だ。中でも桃の花は、紅が濃くて､密集して咲くから、満開の時の紅さは一番だ。障子を閉めれば紅さが部屋の中まで伝わって来るし、障子を開ければ空まで真っ赤に染めたように見える。

Red plum blossom, cherry blossom and peach blossom are the red flowers that make the spring in Japan brighter. Among them, the peach blossom is the most red and dense. Its redness can pass through the screen and tint the room. Move away and look out, even the sky looks red above the peach blossom sea.

红梅，樱花和桃花是让日本的春天更明亮的红花。其中桃花因为红色浓艳，开花密集，盛开时是最红的。那红色可以透过屏风映入房中。如果移开屏风，外面连天看起来都是红的。

葉桜

葉桜や詩人メモする夜道かな

In the fading of cherry blossum,

The poet looks for traces of inspiration,

That he cannot walk out of desparation. 

樱谢才情绽，老人亦存诗家志，夜游苦吟叹。

Explanation:

桜の花が散って、葉っぱばかりが残った。葉桜も詩心を刺激するものだ。

ベレー帽をかぶった隣家のご隠居さんは自称詩人。メモを片手に夜道で苦吟している様子。

When the cherry blossoms withers, leaves only are left. Cherry trees whose blossoms have fallen also can inspire poets. There is retired old man in my neibour who calls himself a poet and likes to play cool in his beret.

One night, he holds a memo pad at one hand on a dark road, struggling to compose a poem.

樱花凋零，唯余绿叶。落樱也能刺激诗心。住附近的一个自称诗人的退休老人，喜欢戴着贝雷帽耍酷。他一手拿着笔记本，在夜路上苦吟着。

昔語り

大叔母の昔語りや雛節句

In the youths of great-aunts,

They recall having so much fun,

But the great-nephew can resist yawns

老妪相聚欢，长忆少女节时乐，孙儿耳目传

Explanation:

大叔母の芳子さんは、祖母の妹。2ヶ月に1回くらい祖母のところにに遊びに来ました。祖母と芳子叔母は日がな一日おしゃべりをして飽きることがありません。話題はいつも同じで、親戚の噂話と少女時代の思い出話ばかり。祖母と大叔母の少女時代で一番楽しかったのは, 3月3日の雛祭り。3月2日の夕方を＜宵節句＞と呼んで、友達を招いてご馳走を振る舞ったそうです。その時の楽しさについて何回も何回も繰り返し同じ話を聴きました。

Great-aunt Yoshiko is my grandmother's younger sister. Every two months, she goes to grandmother's place for gathering. Grandmother and Yoshiko can talk a whole day without getting tired. Their topics are always the same: gossips of the relatives and their youth memoried. Their best memories in their youth was Girls Festivals on every March 3rd.  The evening on March 2nd is called Yoizekku, when girls invite their friends home and treat them with a feast. I have heard too many times about their joy in that time.

芳子大阿姨是祖母的妹妹，每两个月去一次祖母家玩。祖母和芳子可以聊一整天。话题总是一样的：亲戚的八卦和少女时代的回忆。祖母和大阿姨少女时代最开心的回忆是3月3日的少女节。3月2日傍晚叫做“宵节句”，就是要招待朋友回家吃大餐。那时的快乐，我听她们来来回回说了好多遍。

花落ち

花落ちて笛吹童子老いにけり

The flowers have withered,

The gods have fallen,

So has been the young man who has so many talents.

花落天人衰，才情不使年岁驻，笛音幽幽来

Explanation:

私を俳句に導いてくれた友人は、趣味の範囲が広くて、俳句の他に、カメラに打ち込んでいる。また、楽器の演奏にも取り組んでいてリコーダーのクラスに通っているとか。

彼は往年かなりの美青年で、いまでもその面影は残るものの老いは隠せません。

多才な美青年も、年には勝てないのでしょうか。

My friend who led me into the world of Haiku has wide interests. Besides Haiku, he is devoted to photo taking. Now he started playing instruments and is going to a recorder class. He was handsome in his youth, and the traces of his past beauty can still be seen, but aging is unrelenting.

Even handsome guy with multiple talents is outmatched by aging. 

带我作俳句的朋友是个兴趣广泛的人。除了俳句，他在摄影方面也颇有造诣。并且，现在他为了学演奏，开始上竖笛课。他当年相当帅，至今也可依稀看出，然而已经老了。多才的美男也对衰老毫无办法呀。

鐘

鐘供養急ぐ女の炎かな

What turns a maiden,

Into a serpent,
Burning her love in the bell zen.

求君化蛇兮，此情如火百万急，俱焚所不惜

Explanation:

美僧に恋をした少女が、逃げる僧を追いかけて大蛇となって

ついには僧を焼き殺すというすさまじい物語。

鐘供養は、晩春に行われる寺院の行事ですが、道成寺の釣り鐘は

美僧がそこに隠れたのを、少女が大蛇となって巻き付き、

口から火を噴いて外から焼き殺したという伝説の釣り鐘。

There was a maiden who fell in an unrequited love to a handsome monk. 

In chasing the escaping monk, she turned into a dragon and burned the monk to death at last.

The bell memorial is referring to an event held in a temple in the late spring.

The bell hang in Dojo Temple is the very bell where the handsome monk hided and got burnt by the fire from the dragon's mouth.

单恋美僧的少女，变成大蛇追逐逃跑的美僧，最后把他烧死了。钟纪念说的是寺庙在晚春举行的法事。道成寺里那一口钟就是当年美僧藏匿其中，被少女化身的大蛇缠住，喷火烧死的那口。

半蔵門

半蔵門手を振る皇子の桜かな

Under the Hanzo gate’s banner,

A line of Marathon runners,

The prince greets without anger.

驻车宫门外，笑对断路长跑人，皇子气度在

Explanation:

皇居の半蔵門付近は桜の名所。ちょうど皇太子殿下が、半蔵門に入られるところでした。

皇居の回りはマラソンをする人がたくさんいるので、殿下の車は動けずに停車したまま。

皇太子殿下は車の中からにこやかに手を振っていらっしゃいました。

Near the Hanzo gate, the gate to the royal palace, is a attraction of cherry blossoms.

I was there right at the time when the crown prince was about to enter the Hanzo gate.

There were people running marathon blocking the gate. The crown prince stopped his car and stayed still. He just waved his hand with smiles in his car.

皇宫半藏门附近是樱花的名胜。正好皇太子殿下要从半藏门入宫，而皇宫周边跑马拉松的人挡住了路。殿下就停车，在车里微笑着招手。

酔醒

酔醒やところどころの花明かり

Awake from dead drunk,

Starry bright above my bunk,

The reflection in the cherry blossom blank

醉卧方醒处，仰见星彩大如斗，明花点樱树

Explanation:

上野公園、4月。満開の桜の下にシートを敷いて、12，3人の仲間でビールや日本酒を飲みます。

ひとしきり飲んで騒いで、そのまま眠ってしまいました。しばらくして目を覚ますと、当たりは静かになって灯りも消えている。灯りが消えているにも拘わらず、所々がぽーっと明るいように見えます。

満開の桜の花が遠くの灯りを反射して白く揺れているのでした。

In April, at the Ueno Park, we put a sheet below a fully bloomed cherry blossom tree and started drinking beer and Japanese alcohol in a group of 12 or 13. I drank and reveled with others for a while, and fell into sleep. 

When I woke up after several hours, the surroundings were quiet and the lights had already gone off.

Although the lights had gone off, it looked bright here and there in the trees, because the cherry blossoms were refelcting the lights from the far.

4月，我们十二三人在上野公园盛开的樱花树下铺了个席子喝酒。玩闹了一会后，就那么睡着了。睡了一会醒来后，附近变得很安静，光亮也消失了，而樱花树上一处处却亮着。那是盛开的樱花摇曳着反射远处灯光。

北魏佛

春風にほほえみ給ふ北魏佛

Ancient good wills,

In the smile of Buddha statues,

Like the spring blooms

北魏笑脸佛，与人为善春风沐，景行入雕琢

Explanation:

中国・北魏の時代（約1500年前）の仏様はみな穏やかにほほえんでいらっしゃいます。決して人を非難したり、悪口を言ったりしない。不平不満や愚痴を口にすることもない。いつでも、感謝の言葉を伝え、人の良いところだけに目を向けて生きていれば、こういう穏やかなほほえみの表情になるのだろう。心地よい春風のような人間になりなさいと北魏の仏様たちは語りかける。

Statues of Buddah from the Northern Wei Era of China (around 1500 years ago) mostly smile with a sense of gentleness. They never make accusation or speaks bad of others, nor do they complain. One can only gain that kind of expression by always being grateful and seeing the bright side of other people. They are teaching people to be like the pleasant spring breeze. 

北魏时代的佛像总是安详地笑着。它们绝不会指责人、说坏话或者抱怨不公。只有无论何时总是表达着感谢，劝人向善才能笑得这么安详吧。北魏佛像指引人们活得让他人如沐春风。

大叔母

饒舌な大叔母の手の桜餅

My chatty aunt

Holding in her hand

The rice cake wrapped in cherry leaves  

芳子大叔母，兴起饶舌语不停，冷落樱饼馥

Explanation: 

祖母の妹、大叔母の芳子さん。お話しが大好きで、一度話し始めたらなかなか終わることはありません。

3月に家に来られたときに、桜餅をお出ししました。芳子さんは、桜餅を手に取りましたが、お話しに忙しくて、それを口に運ぶ暇がありません。桜餅を手に持ったままお話しが続きます。

My grandmother's younger sister, great-aunt Yoshiko likes talking so much that she once starts talking there will be no end to it. In March, she came to my home. I served her with cherry cake. Great-autn Yoshiko took a piece of cake at hand, but was too busy talking that she could not take a bite. She continued talking with the cake at hand.

芳子大阿姨是祖母的妹妹，特别喜欢说话，一开说就不停嘴。三月份来我家，我给她上了樱花饼。但是芳子大阿姨手里拿着饼，一直忙着说话，一口都来不及吃。她就这么拿着饼说话。

桜餅

Waiting At the funeral parlour:

Rice cakes wrapped in cherry leaves untouched

姊行三途川，火船望眼送君处，手持樱花丸

Explanation:

姉が亡くなりました。69才でした。火葬場に遺体を運びます。最後にお棺の窓から故人の顔を見て炉の中に送ります。遺体が焼き上がるまでに一時間くらいかかります。その間、遺族は待合室で待ちます。

待合室には、お茶と桜餅が用意されていました。待っている人はみな言葉少なにお茶をすすったり、桜餅を食べたりしています。

My elder sister passed away at her 69. Her body was sent to a crematorium. After we seeing her for the last time, her body was put into the furnace. It took around an hour to burn the body completely. In the meantime, we were waiting at the waiting room.  There were tea and cherry cake in the room. The cherry cake looked gorgeous, thus did not come along with a funeral.  The waiting people drank tea and ate the cake in silence.

姐姐69岁去世了，遗体运到了火葬场。和故人见过最后一面，遗体就送进了焚化炉。烧完遗体大概花一个小时，在此期间遗族被安置在接待室。接待室里准备了茶水和看着很喜庆的樱花饼。遗族们静静地喝着茶，吃着樱花饼。

新年

新年度期待の部下の辞表かな

A resignation letter! 

 东风备万事，宏图大展新年时，不意肱股辞

Explanation: 

シンガポールにいても、日本人にとっての新年度は４月。今年度は、こういう方法でこのくらいの売上げを上げて、、と事業計画を考えます。優秀な部下がいて、性格もよい女性です。彼女をプロモートする人事構想も練ります。ところが、その彼女から辞表が出ました。自分で独立して仕事をするそうです。彼女ならばきっと成功するでしょうが、私はがっくりです。

Although live in Singapore, the new financial year starts at April for Japanese. I am planning on a new business plan to increase the sales at the beginning of this finacial year. I have an excellent subordinate, who is a well-charactered female. Also, I have a plan to promote her. However,she submits a resigning letter to me, saying that she would like to start an independent career. She will certainly be successful, but I am quite disappointed.

哪怕在新加坡，对日本人而言，新年度仍然从4月开始。新年度里，我想了一些提高销售额的方法。我有个优秀的部下，是位性格很好的女性。我还打算提拔她，结果她就递上了辞职信，说是要自立门户。她的话要成功不在话下吧，不过我可就失望了。

菜の花

菜の花や峠の小径在所まで

Tiny road on the mountain pass 

Leading to a final destiny:

Rapeseed blossom

菜花妆野径，富士原上春景胜，风葬归人心

Explanation: 

日本のお芝居の中でもっとも不運な恋人、お軽と勘平。二人が手を取り合って、お軽の故郷に落ち延びます。

冨士山と野原一面の菜の花。このきれいな風景から、これから起きる悲劇を予感することは出来ません。

There is a most unfortunate couple, Okaru and Kanbe, in Japanese opera. The couple joint their hands and escaped to Okaru's hometown. Seeing the flowers in the field near Mount Fuji, I cannot relate such a beautiful view with the upcoming tragedy. 

日本戏剧里有对不幸的恋人，阿轻和勘平。二人携手逃往阿轻的故乡。看着富士山边平原上盛开的油菜花，实在难以将这美景与接下来要发生的悲剧联系起来。

雀の子

カフェの朝首傾げたる雀の子

Little sparrow 

Looking in for food: 

Morning café 

觅食咖啡屋，不甘一无所得归，小雀怒我顾

Explanation:

シアトルの通りに面したカフェ。小雀がパンくずが落ちていないか見に寄ってくる。パンがないと分かるとkochiらを見上げて催促する。その様子が何とも愛くるしい。でも、こんなに無防備で生きて行けるのかしら？

A café faces a road in Seattle.  A sparrow comes close to see if there is breadcrumb. As it sees no breadcrumb, it looks up to urge me. It was so cute, but I am worried such no preparedness can get it in danger.

在西雅图某家咖啡店，一只小雀落在地上找面包屑。发现没有面包屑就抬头看着这边催促着，实在可爱。这样毫无防备的生命能活下去吗？

豆腐屋

豆腐屋の軒の陰から雛燕

 In the shade 

Of the tofu shop eaves 

The baby sparrow 

豆家苦劳情，檐庇雏燕生与长，可鉴菩提心

Explanation:

豆腐屋さんは労働がきつくて、もうけの少ない商売です。豆腐屋のオヤジさんは優しい人柄です。

そのことを燕も知っています。豆腐屋さんの軒先に燕が巣を作ります。オヤジさんは雛燕の成長を眼を細めて

見守っています。

Tofu maker is a job with heavy labour but little pay. The tofu maker has a gentle character and the swallow knows it. The swallow built a nest at the edge of the eaves of the tofu shop. The tofu maker watched the growth of baby swallows with softness.

做豆腐是一份辛苦又没油水的活。但是豆腐老板人很好，连燕子都知道。燕子在豆腐店的屋檐下搭了巢。小燕子在豆腐老板的守望下成长着。
