薄氷

薄氷つがいの鯉やうずくまる

Under a layer of ice,

A koi carp lies,

Wonder if it dies.

高尾北风寒，良庭池面薄冰结，鲤鱼怅木然

Explanation: 

自分のお墓のある高尾山は寒い。近所に庭が自慢の料亭がある。池があって、鯉が放たれている。

冬には、鯉のつがいが薄氷の下でじっとしている。凍えて死んでしまわないかと心配になる。

Mt.Takao, where my grave lies, is cold. In its neighbor there is traditional Japanese restaurant good for its yard.

In the yard, there is a pond with some koi carps in it.  In winter, the koi carps stay still in the pond covered with a thin layer of ice. I am worried whether they are dead. 

我的墓地——高尾山——很冷。那附近有家园子不错的日本的传统餐厅。园子里有池子，池子里有鲤鱼。

冬天里，鲤鱼在池塘的薄冰下面一动不动。我很担心他们是不是死了。

朝帰り

霜柱隣家の主人朝帰り

Stepping the morning ice,
The man came back like mice,
Hope he won’t roll like dice.

邻人踏霜柱，周知夜宿情妇家，归来凶难卜

Explanation:

朝トイレに起きる。霜柱を踏む音が聞こえる。

お隣のご主人の朝帰りだろう。また一騒動あるに違いない。

Wake up in morning for toilet. I can hear the sound of stepping on ice needles.

It must be the husband of my neighbor coming back from his girlfriend’s place. I can see the war coming. 

早起上厕所。听到有人踩在冰针上的声音。大概是隔壁人的丈夫从情妇那回来了吧。估计要大吵一架。

徹夜麻雀

正月の徹夜麻雀大三元

Playing mahjong all night,

New Year feels so fine,

When my big three dragons fly.

正月鸿运吉，彻夜麻将斗不休，翻手三元齐。

Explanation:

近頃は、麻雀をする人がほとんどいない。私の学生時代は遊びといったら麻雀のことだった。

食料を用意して徹夜で麻雀するのが何よりの楽しみであった。正月を麻雀しながら迎える。

大三元というのは、白、發、中が各3枚づつ揃うこと。最高の点数である。正月早々、大三元で勝ったら嬉しいだろうなという願望。

Recently, I can hardly find people to play mahjong with. It was my major entertainment in my university life.

Nothing interested me more than playing mahjong all night with some food ready to eat. New Year is to spend in mahjong. The big three dragons means having Haku, Hatsu and Chu three each at hand. It is the highest score in mahjong. If I were to win with the big three dragons in the New Year, I would be so happy.

最近打麻将很难找到人。麻将是我在大学时代最大的娱乐。没有什么比准备好夜宵，通宵打麻将更令我期待的事了。正月里要打麻将。所谓大三元，说的就是白中发各集齐三个的牌面。是最大的牌。正月里早早地用大三元赢牌就好了，这是我的愿望。
