日暮れ

ごぼう煮る冬の日暮れの母子かな

The mother and daughter,

Burdock in the cooker,

In the sunset of winter.

贫母早归家，女悦牛蒡锅中煮，桌映冬日霞

Explanation:

35才くらいの母親がごぼうを煮ている。貧しい食事だ。だが、小学校低学年の娘は不満ではない。いつもより早く母親が帰ってきてくれたのではしゃいでいる。小さなアパートの食卓に、冬の夕陽が差している。

The mother around 35 years old is cooking burdocks. It is a food of poverty.  Yet, the primary school girl shows no discontent. She is happy for her mom coming home earlier than usual.  Onto the table in their small apartment, the winter twilight sun shined. 

35岁左右的母亲在煮牛蒡。这是穷人的食物。但是还在上小学的女儿并没有不满。却因为母亲比平时回家要早而高兴。小小的公寓餐桌上，照映着冬日的夕阳。
